Amsterdam 3-Hour Photo Walk – With Directions
This Amsterdam photo walk is great for Instagrammers and hits all the best photo spots in Amsterdam. It will take you about 3 hours walking, longer if you choose to take the extra detour. If you follow my map you can start at any point since it’s a circle.
Magere Brug – There are a few beautiful old-style bridges in Amsterdam, Magere Brug, “skinny bridge” in Dutch, crosses the Amstel river. This bridge was built in the 1930s, but the name comes from the original bridge built in 1690.
Grimburgwal – Near Spui, Grimburgwal is a small canal nook with a cute bakery terrace. Around the corner is some graffiti “Love”.
Niewmarkt – on the East side of the Red Light District, Niewmarkt is a market… obviously. The photogenic part is De Waag, which used to mark the main entrance to the Amsterdam in the 15th century when there was a wall around the city.
My photo came out bad so I need to go take a new one, but in the meantime, here’s one from Wikipedia.
Oudezijds Voorburgwal – On the edge of Red Light, this corner is one of the most photographed spots in Amsterdam.
Damrak – Right near central station, you’ll see these houses on the water.
Jordaan – Jordaan is probably the most recommended neighborhood to visit in Amsterdam. That’s because it is full of charm, good restaurants, and edgy shops. Just wander around this area for a while and you’ll find some great photo spots. While you’re here stop for the best apple pie of your life at Winkel 43.
Bloemgracht – This is one of my favorite canals, especially in the Spring and Summer when the flowers have bloomed.
Canals – On your way back towards the center, take a walk up Reguliersgracht. It is a particularly photogenic canal.
After visiting all these photo spots, you’ll probably be tired out but make sure you take a day to walk the canal belt, the Prinsengracht, Keizersgracht, and Herengracht too.
Lomanstraat – If you feel like taking a long detour after Museumplein, Lomanstraat is worth the trek. Walk through Vondelpark to get there or take the tram.
